Jesse Marsch has named his 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup™, where co-hosts Canada will face Bosnia and Herzegovina, Qatar, and Switzerland in Group B. As confirmed by Marsch last week, superstar full-back Alphonso Davies will headline the roster despite an ongoing hamstring injury, which is likely to rule him out of Canada’s tournament opener against Bosnia and Herzegovina at Toronto Stadium on 12 June.
The Bayern Munich star is not due to link up with the squad until 31 May as he continues his rehabilitation in Germany. Elsewhere, the squad offers a blend of veterans from the Qatar 2022 campaign including forwards Jonathan David and Cyle Larin and a host of dual nationals that Marsch has integrated over the past two years. Among the latter are defenders Alfie Jones, Luc de Fougerolles, and Niko Sigur, as well as forward Promise David.

Canada World Cup 2026 Squad

Among the ten midfielders is Norwich City winger Ali Ahmed, who six years ago was contemplating his future in the game after unsuccessful trials at non-league English clubs such as Enfield Town, Cheshunt FC, and Tooting & Mitcham United.
On 4 June, Marsch revealed after considerable deliberation that Orlando City’s Maxime Crépeau will be his starting goalkeeper, with Inter Miami’s Dayne St. Clair serving as the backup. It will be Crépeau’s first World Cup after he agonizingly missed out on Qatar 2022 due to a broken leg suffered just before the tournament. “This is the hardest decision I’ve had to make in my coaching career,” Marsch admitted.
In a significant blow, winger Marcelo Flores has been ruled out of the World Cup after suffering an ACL injury while playing for Tigres in the Concacaf Champions Cup final against Toluca on 30 May. “Obviously, we’re devastated for him,” Marsch said in a press conference. A replacement has yet to be announced.
