Kobel, the Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper, will battle for the No. 1 jersey after establishing himself as one of the Bundesliga’s finest shot-stoppers.
Youth and Fresh Blood

The squad’s youngest member is Johan Manzambi, the 20-year-old Freiburg sensation who earns his place off the back of a terrific season with the Bundesliga outfit. His dribbling ability and creative instincts could make him a wildcard option off the bench.
Meanwhile, Marvin Keller a goalkeeper yet to earn his first senior cap is the only uncapped player included, signaling Yakin’s willingness to trust emerging depth between the posts. (Source: fifa.com)
A Historic Milestone for Rodriguez and Xhaka
Ricardo Rodriguez and Granit Xhaka are set to take part in their fourth World Cup, having previously featured at Brazil 2014, Russia 2018, and Qatar 2022. Entering these finals, the duo are deadlocked on a national‑record 12 World Cup appearances each, alongside fellow Swiss icon Xherdan Shaqiri, who is not included this time.
The last senior World Cup they missed was South Africa 2010. But just over six months before that tournament, they were penning a national fairy tale on Africa’s west coast. Switzerland at their first U-17 World Cup stunned the competition with seven straight wins in Nigeria to capture the country’s first global crown. That golden generation is now Switzerland’s veteran heartbeat.
Schweizer WM-Kader 2026
Switzerland have built a reputation for tournament consistency, reaching the knockout stages in three of their last four World Cups (2014, 2018, 2022). With a blend of tournament-hardened leaders and exciting youngsters like Manzambi, Yakin’s side will aim to go even deeper in North America.
