The manager who guided Spain to victory at UEFA EURO 2024 has no shortage of talent at his disposal, led by Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal. Of the 26 players called up for the World Cup, 16 were part of the squad that lifted the European trophy two years ago. Alongside Yamal, Luis de la Fuente will lean on key contributors such as Mikel Oyarzabal, Rodri, Pedri, and Marc Cucurella.
Notable inclusions feature Marc Pubill and Eric García. Atlético Madrid defender Pubill is still awaiting his senior debut, while García’s resurgence at Barcelona has earned him his first call-up since the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. In goal, Joan García joins Unai Simón and David Raya, shielding a defense that includes only three of the eight defenders who helped conquer Europe in 2024: Cucurella, Alejandro Grimaldo, and Aymeric Laporte.

Meanwhile, Víctor Muñoz’s strong form earns him a spot to add attacking thrust on the wings alongside Yeremy Pino, Nico Williams, and Yamal. Up front, a lethal trio of strikers Borja Iglesias, Oyarzabal, and Ferran Torres will keep opposing defenses busy. (Source: fifa.com)
Plantilla de España para el Mundial de 2026

Among the notable absentees are Real Madrid defender Dean Huijsen, Villarreal midfielder Alberto Moleiro, Betis attacker Pablo Fornals, and Barcelona winger Fermín López, who suffered a fracture in his right foot last week.
“The squad was pretty much finalized months ago we were just waiting to see how things unfolded in each match. I want to give a special mention to Fermín [López]. Up until yesterday, we were monitoring all the players to ensure they were in peak condition.
Eric [García] has been with me before. I know the kind of person he is, and he’ll fit right in with this group. [Marc] Pubill hasn’t worked with me previously, but he played under [Santi] Denia with the U-19s and U-21s. We know him very well. Pubill offers a lot he can play in several positions, and we’re well covered in those areas.
Víctor [Muñoz] is a player with tremendous energy. He brings pace, intensity, a change of rhythm, and can even operate in central areas. I think we’re going to need him in many matches, and he’s excited about the opportunity. I’m glad to see that.
We really felt Pedri’s absence due to injury at the EURO, so I’m delighted to have him here. If he can maintain the same level he shows for his club, I’ll be very pleased. The great thing is that he still has room to improve, and hopefully, he will do so going into the World Cup.”
